Start Date with AutumnGrove: August 2007
Favorite Part About Working for AutumnGrove: The loving relationships that I’ve built with my co-workers and families. This has been so much more than a “Job” it has turned into my second family.
Favorite Activity For Residents: Reminiscing by far is my favorite!!! Learning about their life, who they were and what their life was like before Dementia took over. Talking with them teaches me something everyday.
What Got You Into Caring for Alzheimer’s Seniors: It happened by accident. I’d just had my first son and decided that after 8 months of being a stay at home mommy that it wasn’t for me. I decided to give caring for seniors a try and fell in love!! In love with my residents, my families, and the amazing staff of Autumn Grove. Being at Autumn Grove has not been like a typical job. I make a difference every single day. I change lives and they change mine.
Favorite Moment of Joy with a Resident: We had a resident move into The Woodlands Cottage who was very ill and not expected to live very long. The staff fought hard for her health and well being, we just knew she wasn’t ready to leave this world. Everyday we that we cared, loved and encouraged her she grew stronger. She was so strong that she lived at The Woodlands cottage for 3 years before she passed away. I remember sitting with her one night talking, she turned to me and with love in her eyes said, “Thank you for everything you have done for me.” My heart melted in that moment and I knew that she felt loved and that was all that mattered to me.
