Celebrating 10 Years of AutumnGrove Cottage at The Heights

2015 marks 10 years of AutumnGrove Cottage honoring our residents and those who love and care for them. AutumnGrove opened its doors to its first cottage (Copperfield) in September of 2005 and from that moment has flourished in caring for seniors with memory loss in 7 different areas of Greater Houston and 2 locations in San Antonio. This year everyone at AutumnGrove Cottage wants to share our celebration not only with our staff, but with our families, residents and all of our friends. What better way to celebrate our 10th anniversary than with a ton of parties? Each month one of our cottages will host their own 10th anniversary celebration and we started with the newest Houston cottage, The Heights.

The Heights Cottage manager, Cynthia, did an outstanding job in planning her wine and cheese tasting themed party last month. The residents all helped in either the decorating, planning and even the partying! It was such a blast to have family members, staff and friends join in on the fun. The Heights Cottage is the newest of the 7 Houston cottages, opening its doors in July of 2010. Our Heights Cottage is located in the old Victorian neighborhood of the Heights in Houston. The cottage is unique in its exterior design in comparison to our other cottages. In order for this cottage to blend in with the old town atmosphere of the neighborhood, this cottage was designed with a Victorian feel complete with gingerbread adornments and sitting on piers. This cottage has been overwhelmingly welcomed by the Heights community with neighbors stopping by to visit, having coffee with the residents and bringing baked goods for snacks. There is a lovely veranda in the back where residents often spend afternoons doing brain stimulating activities or having afternoon tea.
