Start Date with AutumnGrove: December 2007
Favorite Part About Working for AutumnGrove: I especially enjoy all my caregivers and am so touched to watch them care for our residents. They certainly have the same love I do for our residents, and we are all motivated with compassion for the resident’s families who join in everyday.
Favorite Activity for Residents: The most enjoyable activities for our residents are musical entertainment of all kinds and anything that can be done outdoors. The garden with flowers and birds and a walking path brings out the best in every resident.Meals are especially enjoyable the residents and caregivers. We all eat together and talk and laugh a lot. They like smiling faces, beautiful sounds, tasty foods and familiar smells coming from the kitchen.
What Got You Into Caring for Alzheimer’s Seniors: Assisted Living had just begun in Houston, and I had been teaching high school for five years. The science teacher next door to me said her grandmother lived in a community that was so different from a nursing home. When I called to find out about it, they asked me to interview for an opening. For the passed twenty years I have loved working with the ”other seniors.”
Favorite Moment of Joy with the Residents: The blessing of coming to AutumnGrove is being able focus on the most delicate individuals, those who are able to thrive with love and laughter in the simplest setting. We keep it simple and make it fun.
